The City of Oroquieta welcomed the month of October with fanfare and joy last Sunday October2, 2011. The first ever "Pyro Musical Competition" was held at the MOPAC grounds in the evening backed up by the multi awarded all female led singer band "Aegis". October is the month wherein major events; "Inug-Og" Festival and City Fiesta are held yearly in honor of the Patroness.
The Pyro Competition was participated by competitors coming from different parts of the country including the famous pyro maker Bulacan. Last Sunday's event was the first phase of the competition. The 2nd phase will be on October 14 MOPAC grounds, culminating the fabulous 2nd Grand Concept Parade and the Inauguration of the Oroquieta Town Center. Multi awarded band Calla lily and Imago will also perform. Lastly, on the 19th is the final stage of the competition. Major prizes await the winners; champion-P100,000, 1 strunner- up-P75,000, 2nd runner-up P50,000 and consolation prizes of P25,000. The venue for the last phase of the competition will be at the Oroquieta Town Center highlighting the "Employees Night" celebration featuring music of the Super 70's band.
The people of Oroquieta thanked Mayor Jason P. Almonte and the members of the SP for holding such first of its kind Pyrotechnics competition in Oroquieta. They also thanked the Mayor for supporting the events lined up for the month long celebration.
Meanwhile, a breathtaking evening of fireworks display glittered the sky that was witnessed by an estimated crowd of 3,000 on the grounds of MOPAC grandstand. (OCM-MISO)
